Rise Coffs Harbour is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding from the Office of Sport’s Legacy Funding to launch female-specific football clinics in 2024. Aligned with the NSW Government’s Her Sport, Her Way strategy, this initiative aims to break down barriers, promote gender equality, and empower women and girls in sports.
The announcement was made on Tuesday 5 December 2023 by Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh MP, for the program designed to capture the lasting legacy of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Led primarily by qualified female coaches, six female-specific football clinics will be held in 2024 with the aim of creating a supportive environment that fosters a sense of community among participants.
A structured curriculum will focus on skill development, team building, and positive values.
The project contributes to the broader goal of fostering gender equality and empowerment in sports.
Phil McMullen, Rise Technical Director:
“We are grateful to the Office of Sport for recognising the importance of empowering women and girls in sports. This funding allows us to continue breaking down barriers and creating a positive and inclusive space where females can thrive in football and beyond.”
